The day is fading from sunshine to overcast, but the
rusty beech trees keep the forest aglow even without the sun.
It is a good day for a giveaway!
I used a random number generator,
instead of a hat,
and the winner of the
small watercolor is:
Caterina Giglio
So, Cat, email me at valerianna at verizon dot net and
let me know where to send your painting!
And, on a final note, its looking a lot like this around here:
I finished stacking wood yesterday (though with another cord I would
feel better about my stash) which means that I have a day open for the studio.
I'll ignore the piles and piles of leaves that need to be moved for now, 'cause
the oak leaves are still hanging on... and go dream with paint and brush
and some magical music to set the scene. And maybe I'll convince
Pasha to leave his fireside rug to join me
in the studio...
well, its a big maybe.

I love your forest art. Its very haunting. Our weather went from summer to late fall very quickly in northern Indiana. Your fireplace looks cozy!
les racines symbolisés par la couleur qui fuse... beau comme toujours!
le chat est mignon!!
Oh Val I am beside myself with joy and having trouble spelling!! I will email you immediately!! thank you so much!! xxoo
Congrats to Caterina! Your fire looks so beautiful and cozy. We have had ours going today too, and yes my cat Cookie is conked out in front of it just like Pasha :)
i also have my fire going
suppose to get chilly over the coming days
with mention of snow too
such a lovely painting for the lucky winner!
Well, there's Pasha!! A good weekend to you V.
I enjoyed catching up with your last couple of posts, V. Your paintings continue to grow in expression of the Forest's beauty and enchantment. Give that dear Pasha a hug for me. xxoo, sus
Here, too, Carol... freezing cold the last few nights. Firest burning, people harvesting gardens before the big freeze. None of us are aclimated yet as it came on so fast!
I have a thing for roots :)
Yipee!!
Pasha did come to the studio, but he sat RIGHT on top of the gas heater!
Oh, snow... yes, it is coming, I can feel it, but I DO hope I get those leaves up before it does! Stay warm, Tammie.
Same to you, Sandra. Pasha is not liking the cold!
Congrats to lucky Cat!! I so love your work...and your lovely space to create. Silly Pasha :)
Lucky winner, I must have missed this one!
Will do, Susan, Pasha kitty is outside stalking critters under the vinca minor at present, but he will be in soon to meow at me to pick him up ( I am a heater, you know) so I'll let him know the hug is from you!
Thanks, Nancy! Pasha is outside today braving the cold wind and dampness.
Sorry you missed it, Betty!!
Congratulations to Caterina. Holding your painting Valerianna must be like holding a bit of forest glow. No fireplace here in this little casita in New Mexico and we could use one as temps do get down in the 20's at night during winter, Ive been told. Nothing like coming in from the cold to a nice crinkly fire, sipping tea all stretched out and the crackle of logs spitting forth, now and then. Pasha has the right idea....
but you've built him a nice fire.... :)
Enjoy reading your post.....thanks for sharing...

Hi Va - funny to think of you stashing away cords of wood whilst over here I'm dealing with weeds and putting draining lines in place for the next wet season. But I do love the fact that P just knows the best place to hang out. Go wel in life, art and the open studios. Peace. B
Don't you just love it when the forest glows with all those Autumn colours. We lit our first fire of the season a few days ago, it will take lots to draw me away from the fireside too, the time for reflective evenings is here.
Congratulations to Caterina!! Enjoy your lovely painting!!! I just love Valerianna's work...and the fireglow on Pasha is just as golden as the trees she paints...so warm and cozy as the forest she lives in!!
Love the idea that one can hold the forest glow in one's hand... there's nothing like a fire to dream by!
Thanks, Harshada.
Yes Barry... such an amazing thing that we can communicate through space and time and seasons! I know we've been doing it for a long time, but I still find myself amazed :)
Been here by the fire all evening, Ruthie, time soon for dreaming. And that autumn glow is still here, its been an unusually long fall this year, wonderful color.
Thank you, Karen. We are cozy inside, but it will be getting down to freezing in this forest tonight!
Hey, you have the same wood stove as me! It glows as do your paintings of the woods in fall.
